A Novel Artificial Intelligence based Approach for Diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Healthcare sector is one of the most critical sectors due to its immense contribution towards the well being of individuals, public health and socio-economic development. Due to several considerable reasons, respiratory problems have increased tremendously.Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) has emerged as a prominent contributor to global mortality. The literature has witnessed that the integration of data analytics and artificial intelligence has the potential to enhance COPD diagnosis and management. For this study, the dataset has been created using the two major sources National Institute of Health, USA and National Center for Biotechnology Information, USA. After creating a merged dataset on the basis of common identified features, A SVM+ ResNet50 Hybrid Predictive Model has been proposed. The model has successfully classified the disease with the accuracy of 93 %. This research work can assist pulmonologist for timely diagnosis of disease.
