Label-Free Detection of Biological Molecules with DG-DM-JLTFET

The detection of charged and neutral biomolecules like uricase, keratin, pyridine, streptavidin, ferrocytochrome and bacteriophage, in a label free manner has been proposed.A Dual Gate Dielectric Modulated Junctionless Tunnel Field Effect Transistor (DG-DM-JLTFET) has been proposed for the same. Detection of biomolecules finds extensive applications in the field of medical sciences. This was formerly implemented using Dielectric Modulated Junctionless Tunnel Field Effect Transistor(DM-FET) but it has prominent short channel effects. Thus, to overcome the same, two unique metals have been employed to form a dual gate structure. The DG-DM-JLFET employed here is a symmetric device with a nanocavity etched out in the substrate alongside the gate electrode. The nanocavity is created above the tunnelling junction to immobilize the biological molecule. The biomolecule existence in the nanocavity impacts the electrical properties of the device.
