Linear Combination of EV Drive Using Battery and Supercapacitors to Enhance the Battery Life

This work addresses the challenge of extending the battery life in Electric Vehicles (EVs) by exploring a novel linear combination of battery and supercapacitors. The conventional method for powering EVs relies solely on batteries, which, while efficient, have limitations in terms of life span and sustainability due to their gradual degradation. This degradation not only impacts performance but also contributes to increased maintenance and replacement costs. The proposed methodology introduces a hybrid system that strategically combines the high energy density of batteries with the high power density and durability of supercapacitors. This combination aims to optimize energy utilization, reduce the load on the battery, and thereby extend its life. To validate and analyze the effectiveness of this hybrid system, we utilize MATLAB/ Simulink platform, which provides a dynamic and flexible environment for simulating and optimizing the proposed system. This work offers a promising solution to one of the key challenges in EV technology, paving the way for more sustainable and cost-effective electric transportation The overall system is modeled and simulated in MATLAB\simulink.
