Conjugated Polymer Single-Crystal Thin Films for Trap-Free SCLC Transport

Conjugated polymers endowed with rich molecular structures, mechanical durability, and biological compatibility have been regarded as promising materials for future electronic devices. Nevertheless, the charge transport of conjugated polymers is limited by inherent conformational variations and energetic disturbances. Here, we report a strategy of electrical-filed assistant growth of single-crystal films of polythiophene and its derivatives, which exhibit exceptional trap-free space-charge-limited-current (SCLC) transport. Remarkably, the highest SCLC mobility of 0.02 cm
²
/Vs, accompanied with an ultralow trap density of $3\times 10^{13}\mathrm{~cm}^{-3}$ is achieved.
