The Solar Quest-Navigating Lead-Tin Perovskite for Enhanced Solar Energy Absorption

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are gaining attention for their impressive efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The bandgap of perovskite is tunable, which enables new devices architectures that can exceed the Shockley-Queisser limit. For example, perovskite films can be sensitized with organic chromophores (OC) capable of singlet-fission, provided the perovskite bandgap is reduced from ~1.5 -1.6 to 1.1-1.3 eV by partially replacing Pb with Sn. In this paper, we have discussed the preliminary results of a PSC having a efficiency of 9.52% using Pb-Sn perovskite without any additives, multi-A-site cations or interlayers used for stability and passivation.
