DNA extraction and detection with paper-fluidic device for urinary tract infections

Detection of nucleic acids with lateral flow assays (LFAs) for applications such as identification of the causative organism in urinary tract infections (UTIs) requires a large number of pre-processing steps which are not conventionally performed on the LFA device. In this paper, we present an end-to-end paper-fluidic device workflow that utilizes cellulose dipsticks for DNA isolation and purification and LFA for detection of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplicons.
