Protection Strategy of Sub-/Super-synchronous in Power Systems with High-Penetration Wind Power

Sub-/super-synchronous oscillations caused by wind turbines have emerged as one of the primary challenges impeding the widespread utilization of wind power. This paper proposes a protective strategy to address the issue of sub-/super- synchronous oscillations in wind power systems and prevent potential global stability problems in the power grid. Firstly, wind turbine impedance models are constructed using wide-area measurement data. The oscillation source is identified by utilizing the impedance characteristics of wind turbines, and the sub-/super-synchronous current is used to analyze the stability of oscillations. Based on the oscillation source identification and stability analysis results, a protection strategy is developed to enable emergency control of Sub-/super-synchronous oscillations for wind power systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed protection strategy is verified.
