Broadband Whip Omnidirectional Enhanced Gain Antenna Using Full-Metal 3D Printing

A broadband end-fed whip omnidirectional enhanced gain antenna using full-metal 3D printing technology is proposed in this letter. The antenna consists of two parts: a radiation unit part and a feed matching part. The antenna array formed by interleaving the inner and outer metal strips between the antenna elements enhances the directivity of the antenna. The feed matching part of the conical impedance transformer broadens the antenna bandwidth. The designed antenna has been simulated and verified to have good performance. The entire antenna length is 1.93λ0. Finally, the prototype is fabricated using 3D metal printing technology and measured. The measurement impedance fractional bandwidth is 18% (2.17-2.6 GHz). The measurement peak realized gain is 5.99 dBi. The proposed design has the advantages of broadband and enhanced gain, and is a good choice for modern wireless communication systems.
