Who are More Satisfied with Online Learning: Students who have prior Exposure to Face-to-Face Learning or Students who have none?

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the education landscape in the Philippines. From traditional face-to-face Learning, the Philippines suddenly shifted to online learning to help curb the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. However, due to limited preparations, studies have shown drawbacks in the education system, particularly in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). After more than a year of online learning implementation, the study seeks to determine the student's preparedness and satisfaction with online learning and how their exposure to Face-to-Face instruction influences it before going entirely online. Through convenience sampling, 1221 respondents were obtained from National University - Philippines and its two campuses, National University (NU MoA) and National University (NU Laguna). The results revealed that the top three (3) constructs with the highest agreement with online Learning were Authentic Learning, Instructor Support, and Student Autonomy. Differentiating students with and without exposure to Face-to-Face show a statistically significant difference in terms of Collaboration, Adequate Technology, and Online learning Satisfaction. While the results show that learners are reasonably satisfied with Online Learning, the study shows that those without F2F learning exposure before going online had a higher perception of online learning satisfaction than those with exposure to F2F.
