Designing of A >1kV Medium-Voltage Line Impedance Stabilization Network

This paper presents a single-stage line impedance stabilization network (LISN) design that can perform medium-voltage (MV) level conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) measurements. >1kV Wide-bandgap (WBG) devices are widely used in power electronics applications. Due to their fasts-witching speeds, they emit considerable common-mode (CM) EMI. However, the state-of-the-art offer does not provide LISN for > 1kV compliance and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests. Thus, designers and engineers face a considerable challenge in performing EMC reliability analysis and tests. This paper analyzes the critical design challenges of >1kV MV LISN, including non-linear parasitic parameter variations at high voltage and frequencies. Proposed LISN’s operational characteristics analysis and CM EMI measurement capabilities have validated the proposed design. Its effectiveness for CM EMI measurement in medium voltage has been verified and compared with a commercial LISN.
