A Simple and Reconfigurable IPT System for E-scooter Charging with High-Misalignment Tolerant and Constant Current/Voltage Output

This paper proposes a simple and reconfigurable IPT system for an E-scooter charging based on a three-coil loosely coupled transformer design, which realizes constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) charging under high-misalignment tolerance in the horizontal direction. To this end, based on virtues of two-sided inductor-capacitor-capacitor (DS-LCC) and LCC-series (LCC-S) topologies with CC and CV output, respectively. A control method using a controllable half-bridge rectifier (HBR) and an auxiliary AC switch to realize topology reconfigurable is proposed. Secondly, a three-coil design method based on ferrite optimization is also proposed to improve the misalignment tolerance (MT) performance. Finally, a 122.8-W/85-kHz experimental prototype is designed to test the performance of the proposed IPT charger. According to the experimental results, the proposed IPT charger is able to control the CC and CV within 5.5 % fluctuations within a level of 42% MT and maintain zero voltage switching operation over a wide load range.
