A ZVS Implementation Method of a Current-fed Dual Active Bridge Converter within the Full Load Range

For current-fed dual active bridge (CF DAB) converters, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) has the advantages of reducing switch losses, improving system reliability and efficiency, and is of great significance. The paper first introduces the CF DAB converter and the duty cycle plus phase shift modulation method used and then summarizes the switch combinations and operating modes in the full load range. Afterwards, the limiting conditions for ZVS are analyzed for all operating modes within the full load range, and a parameter design method for achieving ZVS is proposed. With the proposed implementation method of ZVS, the CF DAB converter can achieve ZVS across the full load range. The effectiveness of the ZVS implementation method is verified by the experimental results of a 5.4kW laboratory prototype.
