Wireless broadband coverage study for the department of Meta for the 2.4 GHz band with WiFi technology, based on the locations established by the Ministry of ICT Colombia.

This document presents a WiFi coverage study in the Meta department of Colombia using the Xirio tool. The study considers the digital center project of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MINTIC) of Colombia, which includes 338 points distributed in 29 municipalities. The point with the highest population is selected, leaving 29 points for the study. In these selected points, the percentage results of WiFi coverage are analyzed using the IEEE802.11 N and IEEE802.11AC standards, the most updated standards available in Xirio. The IEEE802.11 N standard is studied with a bandwidth of 20 MHz and 40 MHz, while the IEEE802.11AC standard is tested in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Two antennas are used, which are AM-2G15-120 and AM-2G16-90. These antennas can be used with the selected standards and bands and are also used in coverage studies in various terrains such as rural, urban, and forested, among others, allowing the behavior of the antennas and standards to be analyzed in different areas. The study is conducted in Xirio, a platform that allows coverage studies to be carried out, providing Excel results of the coverage percentage according to the power in dBm. The data obtained is analyzed to determine which standard or antenna performs better in the selected areas.
