Comparative Analysis of Light Pollution Impact: Assessing the Influence of Small Cities in Contrast to Major Urban Centers

Light pollution, resulting from the propagation of artificial light into the atmosphere, extends beyond urban centers, posing substantial challenges to both professional and amateur astronomy. To mitigate interference caused by urban light sources, observatories have been strategically established in remote locations. Nevertheless, despite efforts to safeguard dark skies, small communities located in proximity to these observation areas can introduce significant light pollution, adversely affecting observation conditions. In this study, we aim to investigate the pollution of observation areas by small communities, analyzing the spatial distribution and characteristics of light pollution they generate. By understanding the complexities associated with mitigating light pollution, we seek to contribute to the preservation of unblemished observation sites and the advancement of amateur and professional astronomical research.
