Fast Algorithms for Main Computational Operations in the VM2D Code for 2D Flows Simulation

The flow simulation around airfoils and the hydro-dynamic loads estimation that act on structures is an actual engi-neering problem. For its efficient solution vortex particle methods can be used. The VM2D code is developed to solve such problems; it allows for viscous incompressible flows simulation using viscous vortex domains method. The paper discusses the features of main computational operations in the algorithm and the possibility of reducing their computational complexity from quadratic to quasi-linear by applying approximate fast algorithms. The results of numerical experiments show high efficiency of the previously developed hybrid Barnes - Hut/multipole fast method and its applicability to all time-consuming operations.
