MHA: Mobile Application-Based Analysis of Mental Disorders

Depression is a common mental illness characterized by persistent melancholy and behavioral changes, leading to the need for effective tracking and treatment methods. Many Mobile Applications (MA) are currently designed to support depression-affected people. An investigation of depression help-seeking was conducted on the two most popular App Stores (AS), resulting in the selection of 216 apps. These apps were designed to identify their strengths, shortcomings, gaps, trends, and quality. This study found various uses for mobile apps, including chatbots, educational resources, online therapy, mood monitors, testing, and self-help. This study emphasizes the importance of developing mobile apps to support people with depression due to its high burden on the global population. The study findings could help develop or improve existing mobile apps to support individuals with depression. This research contributes to our understanding of the potential of mobile apps in managing and treating depression.
