Research on Variable Voltage Charging Regenerative Braking of Dual-Rotor in-Wheel Motor

In order to meet the complex driving and braking conditions of automobiles, a highly efficient dual-rotor in-wheel motor (DRIWM) structure suitable for various driving and braking conditions of automobiles is proposed. To improve the energy recovery efficiency of variable voltage charging regenerative braking of DRIWM, a combination of two sets of power battery packs and switching modules is proposed. The regenerative braking control strategy of DRIWM based on rule base and maximum power is designed. Simulation results show that the control of variable torque coefficient based on rule base is better than the control of fixed torque coefficient on target regenerative braking torque. At the same time, the simulation results demonstrate that the energy recovered according to the respective ideal voltages of the internal and external motors is 5978 J. Compared with the results according to the ideal voltage of the internal and external motors, the recovered energy is improved around 3.67% and 27%, respectively. For the recovered energy, it is 5978 J. It is verified that the proposed variable voltage charging scheme based on dual power battery pack has advantages in energy recovery.
