Robustness Improvement of JTIDS Waveform in Saturated Layered Networks Using Spectrum Reshaping

The Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), which serves as the communications carrier for Link 16, provides services for joint operations. With the increasing number of systems dependent on JTIDS terminals, the cascading network mode operating in a saturated state leads to frequent inter-network adjacent frequency interference. In this paper,we analysed the performance of Minimum Shift Keying (MSK) modulation and Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulation for JTIDS under different channel conditions, as well as the issue of mutual interference when multiple networks transmit data simultaneously in a time slot in a layered network operating in a saturated state. At the same time, a simulation platform is built for the JTIDS physical layer model with coding, spreading, hopping, and modulation capabilities, as well as channel models with Gaussian white noise, Rayleigh fading, and Rician fading. Simulations show that JTIDS robustness better with GMSK modulation than with MSK modulation under different channel modes. However, the performance of JTIDS is severely degraded in the presence of adjacent band interference.
