NOMA-Assisted Relay Access Scheme for Flying Ad Hoc Networks

Flying Ad Hoc networks (FANETs) have been widely used in military and civil applications due to their rapid deployment and flexibility. FANET is characterised by dynamic topology and limited energy of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) nodes, existing topology-based routing protocols are not suitable for FANET. Location-based GPSR protocol is widely adopted due to its scalability. But with the increase in the number of UAV nodes, how to increase the node throughput over the limited spectrum becomes a constraint for FANET routing protocols. In this paper, based on GPSR protocol, NOMA technique is used to improve the spectrum efficiency. In addition, this paper gives the power control scheme for each UAV node in NOMA grouping and derives the outage probability under this scheme. Simulation results show that the power control scheme proposed in this paper can greatly improve the average throughput of the nodes, and the simulation NOMA outage probability matches well with the theoretical outage probability.
