Multi-Invariance ESPRIT Using Distributed Array with Mixed-Precision ADCs

Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation for the distributed array is a vital research direction in the field of array signal processing. However, as the distributed array become larger, the utilization of High-Precision ADCs (HP-ADCs) will result in a considerable rise in the hardware cost and power consumption of the antenna array system. To address the aforementioned problem, Multi-Invariance ESPRIT (MI-ESPRIT) algorithm under Low-Precision ADCs (LP-ADCs) is proposed. In order to balance the performance loss of LP-ADCs and the disadvantages of HP-ADCs, we present the MI-ESPRIT algorithm with mixed-precision ADCs (MP-ADCs). Simulation results show that the MI-ESPRIT algorithm with MP-ADCs achieves a fine reduction in experimental root mean square errors (RMSEs) of DOA estimation compared to the MI-ESPRIT algorithm with LP-ADCs, demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
