QoE Assessment of Scent Output in Metaverse for Walking Support

This paper deals with a metaverse in which each user wears waist and ankle sensors and can walk through a virtual park while looking at a display. We have enabled dynamic adjustments of the movement speed within the metaverse in response to the stepping pace. Also, as the user approaches virtual flowers within the metaverse, the olfactory display emits the scent of the flowers. The metaverse can output sounds such as bird chirping and the babbling of a stream. Through the use of this metaverse, we have conducted QoE (Quality of Experience) assessment regarding the impact of scent output frequency. As a result, we demonstrate that there exists the optimal output rate.
