Meta Analysis of Fire Needle Therapy for Swallowing Disorders After Stroke

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of fire acupuncture in the treatment of post-stroke dysphagia. METHODS: A computerized search was conducted for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of fire acupuncture in the treatment of post-stroke dysphagia and other therapies in the treatment of post-stroke dysphagia. In addition, the quality of included literature was evaluated and relevant data were extracted. Meta-analysis was performed by using the software Revman 5. 4. Results: Three RCTs involving 196 patients were included in the study. The analysis of the studies showed that relative to swallowing rehabilitation training treatment, the effect of fire needle therapy was more obvious and had an overall effective rate (odds ratio (OR)=2. 82, 95% confidence interval (CI) [1. 17, 6. 79], P<0.05.), and a cure rate (OR=2. 63, 95% CI [ 1. 31, 5. 26], P<0.05.). Conclusion: Compared with other therapies, the treatment of swallowing dysphagia after stroke with fire needle improves the effective rate and dysphagia.
