Evaluation and Optimization for the Energy Separation Performance of Ranque-Hilsch Vortex

In this study, the energy separation effect of Ranque-Hilsch vortex is analyzed by computational fluid dynamics. The investigation of the variation characteristics of flow parameters such as temperature, pressure and streamline pattern of the vortex field is carried out on the basis of experimental validation. The effect of the vortex stopper structure on the heat production and heating efficiency of the vortex flow has also been evaluated. The results show that the static temperature and static pressure at different axial locations within the vortex field first grow and diminish with the increase in the number of vortex stopper blades. The rectification and obstruction effects of the vortex stopper on the vortex flow are balanced with each other in the case of a 6bladed vortex stopper. Therefore, the 6-bladed vortex stopper achieves the highest heat energy yield and the best heating efficiency. This work is expected to provide inspiration for efficient operation and structural optimization of refrigeration and heating equipment, and to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of energy conversion in thermodynamic systems.
