How a STATCOM solution is helping Croatia and Slovenia to increase their grid reliability

The Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is a power electronic device that is widely used for reactive power compensation and voltage regulation in electric power systems. In the Sincro.Grid Project, where multiple power systems are interconnected, the use of STATCOMs can have a significant impact on the overall quality of the grid. In this review paper, the authors have tried to relay the GE recent experience with a STATCOM deployment in the Slovenian Grid.
