A PV-HFO Hybrid Model for the Existing IPPs of Bangladesh to Reduce Energy Cost and Fossil Fuel Consumption

The IPPs operating in Bangladesh pre dominantly use HFO for power generation. As establishment of new PV based power stations affects system stability and the peak hour generation, the IPPs can be encouraged to reduce their day time production by a certain percentage to generate PV based power and go for full generation in the peak hours. The presented analysis shows that such a scheme is attractive to both the IPPs and the govt. as the IPP profit margin can be increased and the govt. can save significant foreign currency and reduce energy generation cost.
