Design and Implementation of EV charging station with the aid of Solid-State Transformer and Renewable energy technology

In the coming couple of decades, the deployment of Electric vehicles (EV’s) in automobile transport is dominant. The fuel cells for the EV need to be charged through our existing power supplies. As the demand for power is increasing day by day and Fossil fuels are running out, charging an EV through conventional power supplies is an extra appendage to the Power Grid. To vanquish this situation in this paper presenting about the integration of the renewable energy sources i.e., Solar Photovoltaic and Wind Power generation with the standard grid with the aid of Solid-State transformer which is an emerging technology and have unique features like Power factor correction, low voltage DC links, VAR compensation, isolation to disturbance. Integration of Photo voltaic system directly with existing grid is arduous, by implementing power management techniques like Fuzzy MPPT & SMC and by proper design of control system algorithm can get output as desired. The designed simulation model in this paper discuss about charging of battery through Renewable energy-based DC micro grid and outputting results like battery SOC voltage & current. The Dual Active Bridge control, Hysteresis current control, Bidirectional Buck/Boost converter and IGBT based power converters are utilized to get the desired system. The system is an DC microgrid operated in on grid mode.
