Multiband Sunflower Fractal Antenna for Wireless Energy Harvesting

This study presents a novel multiband fractal antenna design in the shape of a sunflower, specifically intended for wireless energy harvesting applications. The proposed antenna operates efficiently across four distinct frequency bands: 3.9 GHz to 4.1 GHz, 4.55 GHz to 4.66 GHz, 4.8 GHz to 5.05 GHz, and 7.3 GHz to 7.85 GHz. Each frequency band offers a respective bandwidth of 120 MHz, 110 GHz, 250 MHz, and 550 MHz. The antenna under consideration exhibits a peak gain of 5.1 dBi, 2.3 dBi, 2.2 dBi, and 4.9 dBi at frequencies of 4.1 GHz, 4.6 GHz, 4.9 GHz, and 7.45 GHz correspondingly. The antenna being presented exhibits high gain and multiband features, rendering it well-suited for RF energy harvesting applications. Specifically, it can effectively target the mid 5G band, WLAN, and 5G extended mid band, taking use of the available power in the surrounding environment. Subsequently, the acquired energy might be employed for the purpose of supplying power to low-power electronic sensors.
