Design and Simulation of Blood Vessel for Early Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Diseases

This research paper aims to investigate the impact of blood viscosity on the aorta, which is a crucial artery responsible for blood circulation in the heart. The kinetic equations of the blood were solved with the help of the laminar processor of the COMSOL program. Additionally, fluid-structure interaction was utilized in order to establish a connection between the mechanics of motion and the stresses that are exerted on the artery. Furthermore, the study examined the impact of viscosity on the artery’s deformation and motion. The findings revealed that a significant portion of the blood fails to reach the artery’s branches, where the blood flow velocity was measured at 0.20 m/s when the viscosity value was 0.2 Pas. An elevation in viscoelasticity results in heightened pressure at the onset of the carotid artery, impeding the blood flow. The blood flow velocity slows as the viscosity increases, resulting in reduced pressure on the artery walls. This is because the stress on 0.2 Pas was equivalent to 16.8 KPas. The deformation of an artery is closely correlated with the stresses exerted on it. Consequently, a decrease in deformation results in a reduction in the size of the artery.
