Privacy Preserving for Electronic Health Records Using Enhanced Attribute-based Encryption with Blockchain

We propose an enhanced ABE (Attribute-Based Encryption) approach based on blockchain to secure electronic health records (EHRs) in edge cloud environments, enabling patients greater control over their EHRs. Before the ABE stage, a patient and the hospital establish an agreement process, and treatment information, including time, doctor, and other details, is securely transmitted using encryption. The integrity of the data is ensured by storing encrypted data as transaction records on the blockchain, enhancing the traceability of EHR development. The outsourced ciphertext policy’s ABE scheme controls access to EHRs and fine-grained attribute revocation ensures ciphertext security. Experimental tests compare the Enhanced-ABE algorithm with CP-ABE and other algorithms, demonstrating improved computational efficiency and reduced delays in key generation, outsourced decryption, and other process stages.
