Evaluation of active inductor tuning circuit

Active inductors are two-port electrical network gyrators. The details on the design, simulation, and performance analysis of an active inductor-based tuning circuit are presented. The tuning circuit has been designed to tune and optimize the reception of two very low-frequency signals, specifically 22.20 kHz and 19.80 kHz, which are transmitted by standard very low frequency (VLF) transmitters. Both tuning circuits have been evaluated using SPICE frequency, time, and Monte Carlo analysis simulations. Both tuning circuits had better Q-factors. The tuning circuits gave reliable results at very low frequencies, proving their stability. The gyrator-based tuning circuit’s lower impedance allows effective voltage transfer, especially at center frequency. Monte Carlo analysis showed that component values within tolerance-maintained stability across the center frequency and higher Q-factor. The active inductor-based tuning circuit eliminates unwanted signals/noise with narrow bandwidth, high Q-factor, low center frequency impedance, and stability over the center frequency.
