Comparative Analysis of Different Topologies of Solid-State DC Circuit Breaker

With the growing number of DC-generating sources available, a DC grid is preferred than one that converts DC to AC for consumption. In the scope of electrical protection, solid-state DC circuit breakers (SSCBs) have emerged as a path-breaker, surpassing the limitations of traditional electromechanical circuit breakers. Unlike their mechanical counterparts, SSCBs boast unparalleled speed, precision, and reliability, making them the preferred choice for safeguarding sensitive electronic equipment and critical power infrastructure. The mitigated conduction loss and rebreaking capabilities of the solid-state DC circuit breaker are designed. When compared to mechanical circuit breakers, the circuit breaker resolves the fault within 10 ms, considerably reducing the risk of harm. Besides interrupting the current in the circuit during fault, In order to rebreak, it can also recharge the commutation capacitor. This paper will give clear comparison between different circuit designs of Solid-State DC Circuit Breakers. The main purpose is to analyze different solid- state DC circuit breakers in different applications.The different models of DC Circuit breakers are designed, simulated, and verified using PLECS.
