Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries With Silicon Dioxide Sphere-Coated Modified Zinc Negative Electrodes

The design and development of anode materials with high capacity, high discharge voltage, defined structure and easy embedding and detachment is a major challenge in the development of high-performance zinc ion batteries. In this paper, from the perspective of inhibiting zinc anode dendrite growth, silica spheres were prepared by sol-gel method and modified for zinc anode, and the effect of silica spheres coating on the improvement of zinc anode (anode zinc dendrite growth) was investigated through a variety of characterization and testing methods, and the electrochemical performance of modified zinc anode in aqueous zinc ion batteries was evaluated. The results show that the silica spheres have a positive modifying and inducing effect, which makes the zinc uniformly precipitated on the coating surface, greatly reduces the formation of zinc dendrites, and improves the efficiency and prolongs the life of the battery.
