Spectral Characterization of Clock Timing Jitter

We present spectral analysis of direct measurements of clock timing jitter in digital signal processing systems using spectral domain characterizations. Both pulse train clock and sinusoidal clock are analyzed. Numerical simulations are also presented, verifying that the theoretical formula presented can provide a timing jitter measurement that is within a few percent of the actual value even under the influence of some amplitude noises.
