Performance of A Selective Amplify-and-Forward Scheme for Two-Users with Two-Relays in Rayleigh Fading

In this paper, we investigate the potential benefits of a selective relay selection scheme over random relay selection in amplify-and-forward (AF) relay networks with two source-destination pairs and two relays. The outage probability ex-pressions corresponding to the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the users for two relay selection schemes operating in a Rayleigh fading channels are derived. It is shown analytically that the selective relay assignment achieves better performance than the random relay selection. Simulation results are also provided for independent but non-identical channels.
