Design and Development of a Sustainable Smart Bin for Contributing to the SDG Vision 2030

Managing waste has emerged as a formidable challenge for any nation aiming to safeguard the well-being of its citizens and promote sustainable national progress. This paper introduces an innovative solution as an efficient smart bin, aligning with the health objectives associated with the SDG Vision 2030. The smart bin is meticulously designed using the Proteus software environment, incorporating components such as an Arduino Uno R3, an ultrasonic sensor, and a servo motor. We developed a hardware prototype of the smart bin to validate its effectiveness in detecting objects within its range and autonomously opening its lid. The paper provides a comprehensive guide outlining the step-by-step procedures for constructing this specialized bin. Furthermore, it explores potential enhancements to elevate the product's functionality and features.
