Unit Commitment Optimization Scheduling for Thermal Power Plants

Unit commitment is an essential aspect of developing day-ahead power generation dispatch plans, which include decisions on unit start-up/shut-down states and economic load allocation. Considering the overall economic performance of the system, with the objective of minimizing the total operating cost of the system units, taking into account constraints on start-up/shut-down costs, ramp rates, and start-up/shut-down times, a short-term thermal power unit commitment model is proposed. In simulation experiments, the MATLAB framework with YALMIP and Cplex solvers are used to solve a 30-node system with 6 units for the unit commitment problem, resulting in the optimal start-up/shut-down and output plans in terms of economic efficiency.
