Current Mirror based Level Shifter aiding multitudinous conversion ranges

A System on a Chip (SoC) is a condensed integrated circuit that combines all crucial components of an entire system onto a single chip. Due to the diverse operating voltage requirements of these components, it becomes imperative to incorporate a component, like a level shifter, serving as an intermediary to ensure seamless compatibility across varied voltage ranges. The Multitudinous Conversion Range Level Shifter employs a Wilson current mirror circuit and integrates body bias voltage to operate seamlessly within the subthreshold region across a spectrum of voltage and frequency ranges. In the Multitudinous Conversion Range Level Shifter, a bias voltage of 0.6 V is employed when the supply voltage is 1.2 V. For voltages exceeding 1.2 V but less than 4 V, the bias voltage is set at 0.7 V, showcasing the dynamic adaptability for optimized performance. Implemented using 45nm technology in Cadence Virtuoso, the circuit functions across an input frequency ranging from 1 Hz to 10 GHz. It enables seamless voltage conversion, ranging from 0V–0V to 0.12V–4V. With a Body bias voltage set at 0.7 and a conversion range of 0.12 V to 4 V, performance metrics recorded at a frequency of 1 MHz include a delay of 13.88 ns, a power consumption of 36.27 uW, a Power Delay Product (PDP) of 503.77 fWsec, and an energy consumption of 36.26 pJ.
