Innovative Mandible Reconstruction Algorithm Based on Alignment Optimization

This study presents an automatic algorithm for mandible reconstruction, designed to address the complexities and challenges of this critical surgical procedure. The algorithm was applied to 77 cases with diverse characteristics, resulting in a mean smoothness error of 1.2 mm. Notably, the algorithm's effectiveness was evaluated by clinical experts, who expressed a high degree of satisfaction with the automatically generated reconstruction plans. Additionally, the algorithm's adaptability to real clinical scenarios was demonstrated by comparing its outputs with manual adjustments made by clinicians. The slight increase in the average error of only 0.57 mm after manual adjustments underscores the algorithm's practicality. This collaborative approach, involving feedback from experienced medical professionals, affirms the algorithm's real-world applicability and potential to enhance the precision and efficiency of mandible reconstruction procedures. In summary, this algorithm holds promise in improving the outcomes of mandible reconstruction surgeries, benefiting both patients and medical professionals in the field of facial reconstruction.
