Process Simulation and Aerodynamic Characteristics of Wing Icing

Based on the study of the impact of icing on the aerodynamic performance of wings, the impact of aircraft wings on aerodynamic parameters under icing conditions is studied. As the main lifting surface of an aircraft, the wing is prone to ice accumulation on the windward surface when passing through clouds rich in supercooled water droplets, leading to flight accidents. We summarized the current research methods for wing icing at home and abroad, and comprehensively discussed the drawbacks of this issue to flight performance. On this basis, using FENSAP-ICE software, the icing process of the NACA0012 airfoil was simulated, and the aerodynamic characteristics and stability changes of the NACA0012 airfoil before and after icing were analyzed at different angles of attack, temperatures, and liquid water content, mainly manifesting as an increase in angle of attack, an increase in low pressure on the upper surface, and the lowest point of pressure moving towards the leading edge of the wing; The lower the temperature is, the lower and more unstable the content of supercooled water droplets is. Under the same LWC, low temperatures are more likely to cause wing icing; Within the range of attack angles of 2 ○ to 8 ○, the lift coefficient before icing on the wing increases with the increase of attack angle; Within the attack angle range of 0 ○ to 8 ○, the drag coefficient increases with the increase of attack angle. The lift drag ratio after icing is smaller than that before icing, and the slope of the lift coefficient curve decreases while the slope of the drag curve increases, resulting in a decrease in the lift drag ratio at the same attack angle after icing.
