IoT Based Real Time Drainage Monitoring System

Constant drainage system monitoring is essential for the cleanliness of cities. In reality, drainage monitoring crews do not exist in every municipality. It leads to irregular monitoring of drainage conditions. Drainage becomes obstructed due to unreliable observation, which implies an invitation that ultimately leads to inundation. This study examines an IoT-based real-time drainage monitoring system that monitors the condition of each manhole point in the drainage system via wireless sensor networks. Each individual manhole cover operates as a sensor node. The data that has been entered into a database will be presented using a Geographic Information System (GIS). In order to prevent catastrophes, monitoring metrics consist of drainage water levels, the air pressure in the drainage line, the presence of toxic gases in the drainage and the condition of the manhole, which indicates whether it is closed or open, especially during the rainy season. The purpose of this system is to effectively store the data and maintain real-time surveillance of the drainage conditions. The data displayed via GIS is expected to function as a reference for delineating the drainage master plan for the region.
