LSMAK-IOV: Lightweight Secure Mutual AKE Scheme in Fog-Based IoV

The IoT is evolving, making it easy for humans to interact with the physical environment. The IoT has led to the emergence of smart cities, the internet of vehicles (IoV), etc. Smart vehicles can communicate with their surroundings and use environmental data to make driving decisions. However, the two parties need to authenticate to trust each other’s data. Due to the limited processing capacity of vehicles, in this article, we have LSMAK-IOV, a light method for authentication and key exchange (AKE); the LSMAK-IOV Scheme has reduced the computing and communication costs by 23.1 ms and 3072 bits, respectively, compared to the SMAKIOV scheme. Tool AVISPA was used to evaluate the safety of the LSMAK-IOV scheme, showing that the LSMAK-IOV scheme is resistant to active and passive attacks.
