Design and Implementation of SEPIC Converter for Wind Energy System

The SEPIC (Single-Ended Primary-Inductor Converter) is a type of DC-DC converter that is specifically designed to manage the output voltage of a power source. The SEPIC converter may adjust the voltage of the DC power supply while maintaining a consistent output voltage. This function is likewise served by the buck boost converter, but because of its inverted output, a positive input voltage will result in a negative output voltage. A customized converter called a sepic converter is utilized to get around the buck boost's downside. The advantage of generating the non-inverting output is provided by the addition of an additional inductor at the source side. The output of a SEPIC converter is managed in a closed loop by means of feedback control. By comparing the feedback signal with the reference voltage, the comparator generates the error signal. To manage the output voltage, the feedback controller changes the duty cycle of the PWM controller after receiving this error signal. Our project's SEPIC converter has closed-loop control, and the user can manually change the set voltage to suit their typical load requirements. Following measurement, the manually preset voltage is compared to the load's output voltage by the dSPIC controller. By using PI gains to reduce error and adjusting duty cycle, the controller may obtain the set voltage that will be the load's output voltage. The error signal is derived from the compared value. The PWM signals needed to switch the MOSFET are produced by the controller. The TLP250 opto driver IC circuit is used to switch the MOSFET in accordance with the PWM signals since the PWM signals cannot be used directly for MOSFET switching. The hardware includes output terminals to connect the converter's output to other loads or circuits. The load has a resistance of one kilo ohm. Every time the specified voltage is altered, this process is started over. In a closed loop voltage control, 40 volts is the most voltage that can be controlled, and 3 volts is the lowest voltage that can be controlled. The buck or boost mode of operation, along with the actual voltage and the set voltage, are all presented on the LCD display.
