Improved Steady and Dynamic Performance for Sensorless Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Control Using Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Observer with Load Torque Observer

To solve the problem of low accuracy and susceptibility to load disturbance in traditional sensorless control strategies, this paper combines super-twisting sliding mode observer (ST-SMO) and sliding mode load torque observer (SML TO) to improve steady and dynamic performance for sensorless control of PMSM. For the improvement of steady-state performance, the super-twisting sliding mode observer is utilized instead of the traditional sliding mode observer (TSMO) to suppress chattering, thus improving the control accuracy of the PMSM drive system. For the improvement of dynamic performance, SML TO is implemented to estimate load torque quickly and accurately and use it as feedforward compensation to reduce the effect of load disturbances on the dynamic performance of the system. Simulation results demonstrate that the system has a high accuracy of position and speed estimation and strong anti-load disturbance capability.
