Rapid Volume Measurement Method of Large-Scale Mineral Resources in Multiple Scenarios and Its Applications

This paper presents a fast measurement method for estimating the volume of large-scale mineral resources in China, addressing the challenges posed by multi-scenario storage and irregular stacking. The traditional volume measurement methods are susceptible to issues such as heavy workload, human interference, and low efficiency. To overcome these limitations, this method combines the use of a backpack laser scanning system for indoor areas and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry technology for outdoor areas. In this approach, the backpack laser scanning system is employed to capture three-dimensional point cloud data of coal piles indoors, while UAV photogrammetry technology is utilized to obtain similar data for outdoor scenarios. Subsequently, the collected point cloud data is used to reconstruct three-dimensional models, and the volume is calculated by using the triangulation method. Through engineering cases, the outcomes of this method's application demonstrate its ability to achieve rapid volume acquisition for large mineral resources in multiple scenarios without compromising measurement accuracy. Notably, the method also exhibits strong adaptability and high efficiency, highlighting substantial application value.
