Health Status Monitoring System for the Elderly at Home Based on Millimeter-Wave Radar

Depending on statistics, the number of people over 60 years old in China has reached 280 million by the end of 2022, and home care has become a major social problem. Traditional monitoring equipment is mostly contactless, which is difficult for the elderly to accept and causes inconvenience to their lives, while some non-contact equipment has high prices, privacy issues, etc. The application of millimeter-wave radar can solve the above problems well and gradually become a trend. The system uses GD32 MCU to design a human health monitoring system based on millimeter-wave radar and uses a millimeter-wave radar module to detect the heart rate and respiratory rate of the elderly in a specific range at home, to evaluate their health status. At the same time, the indoor temperature and humidity are monitored, and the data is uploaded to the Cloud platform using ESP8266 so that the children and relatives of the elderly can obtain the health status of the elderly at home promptly. With the voice broadcast module, when the system encounters an anomaly, it will issue a voice alarm reminder.
