WSN-Based Smart Wagon Load Monitoring System in Railway Industry

The proposed work presents a comprehensive and innovative solution for mining coal wagon loading that leverages the axle's built-in compression load cell to accurately determine the weight and optimize the cargo balance. This approach effectively mitigates the inefficiencies and safety risks associated with conventional loading methods in the transportation industry. The in-axle sentinel continuously and automatically analyzes weight data in real-time, providing intuitive feedback to workers through a color-coded system. This system shows green for balance, orange for underload, and red for overload, enabling corrective action to be taken quickly and efficiently. The system's dedicated display enhances transparency and provides data-driven insights to workers, enabling them to make informed decisions about the loading process. The system is designed to improve informed loading by using a low-profile compression load cell, a microcontroller STM32F411RE, an LED display, lights, and a piezo buzzer. The compression load cell is capable of measuring the weight of the wagon with high precision, and the microcontroller relays this information to the display, lights, and piezo buzzer. The display shows the weight of the wagon in real-time, while the lights and piezo buzzer provide immediate feedback to workers. By accurately weighing the wagon, relaying information to the microcontroller, and displaying the weight to the worker, the system enhances safety and efficiency in wagon loading operations. It enables workers to load the wagons in a balanced and optimized manner, reducing the risks of accidents and damage to equipment. Overall, this innovative solution has the potential to revolutionize the mining wagon coal loading process and improve the safety and productivity of transportation operations.
