Impact of Electrode Materials on Battery Performance in Hybrid Systems for EV Applications

To increase the performance and efficiency of electric vehicles, Researchers are actively involved in innovative energy storage methods. This research paper mainly focuses on the performance and modeling of batteries and the working of an integrated hybrid battery-supercapacitor system. Since supercapacitors have quick charging and discharging capability, it is used in many high-power applications. Generally, Lithium-ion batteries have high energy density but it has some limitations in quick charging and discharging. This hybrid system includes characteristics of both supercapacitors and Lithium-ion batteries to solve electric vehicle difficulties like power density, energy density, and cycle life. In this paper to improve the battery parameters, the Lithium-ion battery model is constructed with chemical compositions such as NCA and LMO using COMSOL. It is responsible for reduction reactions in electrochemical processes, impacts the flow of electrical current, and has an impact on crucial parameters such as energy density and cycle life. Thus, integrating both battery and supercapacitors helps in the performance of the total integrated system.
