Design and Characterization of a Flexible PET based Microstrip Patch Antenna with L Probe Feeding Technique

A flexible microstrip patch antenna with additional slot is designed using Polyethylene terephthalate substrate. Designed antenna was simulated using the Ansys HFSS software at an operating frequency of 5.2 GHz. Obtained patterns are remarkably stable. The technique used in the antenna's construction helps to overcome the limitations of conventional L-probe fed antenna, such as dielectric constant variations and limited flexibility. The results obtained in terms of VSWR = 1.63, directivity = 7.72dB, gain =7.05 dBi, return loss = - 14.86 dB indicates the performance improvement than the conventional Rogers substrate antenna. Inverted T shaped flexible antenna is suitable for short range wireless communications.
