A Comprehensive Evaluation System for the Sightings of Asian Giant Hornet

This paper examines the reports of sightings of the Asian giant hornet by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, using 4,440 such reports and background information from Pennsylvania State University Extension on the insect. The study establishes a mathematical model for predicting short-term changes in the Asian giant hornet population and quantifies the relationship between public reports and actual pest populations. The resulting management system for sightings of the Asian giant hornet provides a theoretical basis for more effective pest prevention by the Department of Agriculture in Washington State.
