Research on Improving Cryogenic Tribological Properties of Bearings by Surface Micro-texture Technology

As one of the core components of rotating equipment, bearing is easy to wear under cryogenic conditions, short life and other problems will seriously affect the efficiency of the entire equipment. To further improve bearing stability and reduce bearing wear, 3 types of micro-textures were designed and prepared on bearing contact surface by fiber laser processing technology, and friction and wear tests were carried out on the three micro-textures under cryogenic conditions. The results show that the flute-channel micro-texture has better anti-friction and anti-wear characteristics under cryogenic conditions, and the anti-friction and anti-wear effects are better with the increase of load. In addition, compared with the type 1 and type 2 micro-textures, the type 3 micro-texture can better collect and transfer the abrasive particles and impurities mixed in the interface by means of the unique channel structure connected between grooves, reducing the abrasive debris retention on the surface of the friction pair. The research not only ensures the stable contact of the friction interface, but also effectively inhibits the occurrence of abrasive wear on the surface of the friction pair, which provides theoretical and technical support for further improving the bearing stability and improving the bearing life.
